World War 2
The Service Records of those named on the WW2 Section of the Memorial are available as follows, and under certain conditions.
The UK Government (Armed Forces) will only release copies of individual Military Service Records to the following:
1) You are their immediate Next-of-Kin, e.g. Spouse or Parent.
2) You have consent from their immediate Next-of-Kin.
3) You have a general research interest. In this case you only have access to limited information, unless the Service(wo)man died more than 25 years ago.
You need to know their:
1) Full Name
2) Date of Birth
3) Service Number.
You can download the forms at the link below.
You need to download a 'Request Form' AND a 'Search Form' for each Service(wo)man.
A non-refundable fee of £30.00 (at present) is also required.
There is no fee if you were the spouse or civil partner at the time of their death, or their parent if there was no spouse.
